America’s Confidence & Trust in SCOTUS Craters as Court Moves to put Thumb on 2024 Election
In case it wasn’t obvious to the common lay person, having the Supreme Court rule on whether or not the President of the U.S. has full immunity to interfere in elections & steal top secret classified records, is frustrating. It’s disingenuous to pretend the question is legitimate. It’s more egregious when they slow walk the case until after the election, affording Trump his delay tactic. The public has a right to know the outcome of this case & we don’t need SCOTUS getting involved with it. There is a conflict of interest with Justice Thomas, since his wife was involved with the Jan 6 insurrection. For Thomas to NOT recuse himself, just shows the world they willfully put their personal politics before the business of the country.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that the current Supreme Court is not representative of the American electorate. Mitch McConnell has helped the most corrupt, illegitimate, criminal president of all time, install three justices who are unqualified for the position, & also loyal to Billionaires, the GOP, & their own self-interest.
Democrats for their part, have tried to get them to sign onto a set of ethic rules that all other federal judges have to follow. Yet Thomas & Alito have bucked this measure, proving they have no desire to adhere to any standards & want to “self-police” themselves instead. Isn’t that convenient? Meanwhile, the country’s opinion of SCOTUS is at its lowest in decades.
There appears to be only one remedy to reel this Supreme Court in, most of which have been illegitimately installed by Republicans willing to change the rules for their own convenience. The only thing Democrats & Independents can do is to demand that the Supreme Court be more representative of America. To completely represent the U.S., Congress is going to have to add more justices to balance the court.

Many on the right have decried FDR trying to expand the court as corrupt or unfair, but he didn’t make one set of rules for Democrats and another for Republicans, like today’s GOP has created. In the end, FDR didn’t end up adding those six justices because two justices switched their votes for the New Deal programs. FDR never had to deal with the naked corruption exhibited by Mitch McConnell & his Republican Senators. They have shown toxic partisanship in the 1990s when they hunted a Democratic president for 8 years, made sham investigations out of partisan rumors & impeached him over a “lie” about his personal life. It doesn’t meet the threshold of “high crimes & misdemeanors”. What disturbs me the most is that it keeps happening over & over. At what point are we going to stop allowing the GOP to be a cabal of corrupt, pro-Putin, anti-democratic party? The United States of America is a liberal democratic constitutional country. So why has one political party been allowed to have no oversight, no investigations (given their dirty tricks, & stolen elections) involvement with the CIA & FBI, & finally their involvement with an actual insurrection to take over the government. They have intentionally not vetted their candidates & now are attempting to install a fascist, convicted criminal & traitor to the U.S. again.
I think the time’s up for us to continue sitting back…hoping & praying our DOJ does the right thing. We need a DOJ that will take all legitimate cases. Trying to overthrow our government, stealing elections, colluding with & accepting money from foreign countries are all cases that should be investigated & brought to trial. At this point….I’m seriously thinking that WE the people need to be heard from by the SCOTUS, maybe in the form of millions of signed petitions & protests in street.
